Position Title : Managing Executive: Richards Bay

Position Purpose:

Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Richards Bay Terminals servicing Magnetite, Chrome & Coal in in the Bulk

Terminal, and various commodities in the Multi-Purpose terminal.

Take ownership to run the terminals in the portfolio as a profitable, efficient and value-adding business.

Lead the Commercial, Customer Service and Stakeholder engagement initiatives in the areas where the terminals operate.

Plan for operational capacity to ensure that effectiveness, efficiency, cost competitiveness and reliability are monitored and

that growth potential can be realised.

Position outputs:

Compile a comprehensive localised strategy and implementation roadmap for the terminals servicing the supply chain for


optimal operations and efficiency.

Ensure sound operations management by implementing appropriate industrial engineering systems, processes, reporting

and internal controls in alignment with Group policies and guidelines.

Direct operational capacity to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, cost competitiveness and reliability.

Ensure operational capacity for growth potential.

Produce and monitor the revenue and cost budget and take ownership for the terminals to operate profitably.

Responsible for accurate operational and safety reporting in compliance with legislative reporting requirements and


Ensure compliance to corporate governance and control systems implemented, to ensure sound, auditable operations


Develop and implement risk mitigation actions and initiatives and monitor operations to ensure risks are eradicated or


Monitor compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Ensure effective stakeholder relations management with customers and other key stakeholders.

Liaise with all stakeholders and provide strategic advice on operations performance interventions required to transform the

customer experience and achieve positive business performance.

Improve core business operations performance and increase market share within customer base.

Lead, manage and develop a team of professionals, and coach and mentor staff as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

B-degree in Operations, Engineering or equivalent relevant qualification
Post graduate degree in Business Management or equivalent is an advantage
Minimum 15 years’ experience in a large organisation with a complex operations and commercial environment, of which 10
years is within a port environment and 7 years at a senior managerial level
Requirement of trust and honesty in the handling of Finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19 Standard Job
