Job Purpose

Lead and manage the Factory Productions team, by working with team members, to set priorities, work plans and deliverables and holds team members responsible for their performance and delivery of the work plan. Ensures a high level of quality of performance. Work s with senior management to develop and implement short, medium and long term goals, policies and strategies for Production optimization. Designs, manages and updates general policies and procedures. Directs and co-ordinates activities concerned with production of company products in the plant. Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications and delivery dates of products ordered. Plans and directs activities and established production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors. Co-ordinates production activities with Tech Transfer, procurement, maintenance and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machine and equipment. Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.

Accountabilities

Financial

  • Reviews budget input from Section Head and compiles Draft Budget before submission to General Manager and Finance
  • Capacity Planning:
    • Review of salary increases
    • Review of manpower resources
    • Remuneration structures
  • Reviews and audit monthly cost center performance, reporting on deviations, to ensure cost effectiveness and maximizing profitability
  • Reviews Capex motivations/justifications from Section Head. Compiles and authorises final Capex before submission
  • Reviews monthly expenses – authorizes expenses – reports on deviations
  • Accountable for deviations and corrective actions
  • Compiles month end and yearend reports
  • Authorises Product Routings Costs
  • Review monthly OPP/Plan
  • Monthly agree on targets, re-forecasting, adjusting manpower, equipment and capacity requirements as per Production scheduling
  • Monthly review of future short to medium term Demand Forecasting and ensure Capacity constraints are actioned

Education Qualification

Matric/grade 12

Degree in Pharmacy/Engineering/Chemistry/Production/Operations Management

Relevant Tertiary qualification within Pharmacy/ Engineering Chemistry

Formal Business Management qualifications an advantage

 

Relevant Work Experience

5 -8 years experience in an internationally accredited Pharmaceutical Manufacturing environment demonstration strong leadership ability

Computer literate – MS office, MRP system essential – SAP an advantage
